Firearm WTF-ery

Going back to yesterday's post...

First of all, let me just say that I am looking forward to seeing this short.

Having said that, I'm gonna gripe about the above illo.

Notice something bad?

Go on. Have another look.

Still stumped?

Here. Lemme show you.
Yeah. That's right.

She's got her finger on the trigger.

For someone who oughta know firearm safety, Agent Carter is being extremely careless.

Rule #3 of Firearm Safety: Keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot.

In that pose, Carter is in no way ready to shoot.

Unless she plans on shooting the ceiling.

This, Dear Readers, is just another example of Hollywood-style gun handling.

Translation: this is bad.

I've griped about this before.

I'll probably gripe about it again.

Shame on you, Hollywood.

In Which I Remind Myself...Again

I did this before. Last year.

I believe I need to do it again because for one reason or another, I manage to forget.

I. Write. Escapist. Fiction.

Yes. Escapist fiction. Brain candy. A literary popcorn movie.

I have no intention of exploring life's great unanswered questions or commenting on politics or social justice.

I'm here to write feel-good action movies on paper with running gun battles, big explosions, buddy comedy patter, chills, thrills, and spills.

I'm here to entertain you.

That's it.

If you're looking for something more, I'm afraid you've come to the wrong place.

Progress Notes: Once More Unto The Breach

KAT AND MOUSE: Tales of Episode #208
We are at
3,554 / 6,000
and on hold while I take a step back and work out some plot details.

Jericho Thingie Compilation
As previously reported, this has been compiled.

Moving to formatting.

Pulp Adventure Yarn
A tip of the hat to Indiana Jones.

Still working out the details but it's more or less ready to go. Probably the next project following Episode #208.

Military SF Yarn
Still in the planning stages. Also, some necessary worldbuilding.

Not quite yet ready. Leaving it to percolate some.

In Which We Do New Bloggy Things

UPDATED: 9/10/13

Since I've just made it clear that things are now moving in a new direction (and by "new direction" I mean "no more dicking around"), it's time to get clear about what this blog is supposed to do.

In addition to being a place for release announcements (yes, there will be upcoming releases), informational posts, and the occasional soapbox post, I'm also planning some ongoing-type content. I'm going to thank my fellow AWer, Kricket, for giving me the idea based on this post from her blog.

Here's the plan...

MONDAY PROGRESS REPORT: Every Monday I'll post a progress report on the current projects. It'll cover word counts, new things in the Writing Hopper, and various other writing observations.

Since I tend to write about ass-kicking women who wield a wide variety of lethal implements, I figured I would showcase such women on the blog. Ergo, every Wednesday will be Women With Weapons Wednesday.*

And there you have it.

Okay...back to work for me.

*Yes, this is much like the old "Chicks With Guns" feature I ran a few years ago. I'm just bringing it back, y'all.

Happy 4th!

Have a great 4th of July, Folks.

In Which There Is No More Dicking Around

UPDATED: 9/28/13

A few days ago I had a revelation.

No matter how much or how often I try to reinvent myself, I inevitably come back to being one thing.

A pulp writer.

It's time to stop dicking around and accept it. No more dilly-dallying. No more taking down walls, putting walls back up, moving furniture, moving furniture back, painting, repainting, re-repainting.

Just come to terms with being a pulp writer.

Everything else is negligible.

Now...having said that, let's get back to work.

And by "back to work," I mean "write more KAT & MOUSE."
