John Joseph Adams In Court

Yesterday, on Twitter:
@johnjosephadams Jury duty tomorrow, that, I don't have a problem with. But 8am! What in holy hell? If I wanted to get up at 8am, I'd have a real job!

@inkhaven: @johnjosephadams oh no, you do have to go? well, civic duty all that. shame civic duty has to get you up so early though!

@johnjosephadams: @inkhaven Yeah, and jeeze, I have BE THERE by 8, that means I'll have to be up by like 6:30 or something!

@inkhaven: @johnjosephadams can you feel the sympathy waves radiating at you from all of us with day jobs? ;)

ME: @inkhaven And songs. There should be songs unto him. @johnjosephadams

ME: @inkhaven Yes. I'll write one tonight. A hymn/song parody. I'll post it on my blog when it's done.

And so I have. I give you: "A Hymn to John Joseph Adams While He Is At Jury Duty."

(to the tune of "Angels We Have Heard On High")
John Joseph Adams has
Jury duty today
All of us in Twitterland
Send sympathy waves and we pray

John
Joseph Adams
Has to go to jury duty
John
Joseph Adams
Has to go to jury duty

"What in holy hell?" says he
He has to be there at 8
So we sing a song for thee
And hope you won't be there too late...

Audio to follow later today. Listen to the audio here.

Please excuse some audio wierdness. The original music tracks I found liked to crackle. Not sure what that was about. I did what I could. If I track down a better track, I'll re-do. For the moment, enjoy this version.

The Hell Is He Doing...?

I recently tried to pull the sword from the stone. Or rather, the anvil.

Alas, I didn't turn out to be the boy king.

But I was wearing a cool hat...

Currently Reading

Right now, I am enjoying Orcslayer from the third Gotrek and Felix omnibus. I think this is where Nathan Long takes up the reins from Bill King.

Good, solid, rip-roarin' fantasy adventure.

Recently finished the following:
  • Gotrek and Felix 2nd Omnibus by William King
  • A Devil in the Details by K.A. Stewart
  • Red Hood's Revenge by Jim C. Hines
  • The Magician by Michael Scott
  • The Third Lynx by Timothy Zahn
  • Bewitched and Betrayed by Lisa Shearin
I think it might be time for some non-SF/F reading. I'm starting to feel a little tapped out on SF/F. Maybe mystery. Or non-fic. Perhaps a graphic novel/comic TPB or two.

KAT AND MOUSE Updates

Part 3 of "Pop Quiz" is now live on the site.

Podcasty Goodness

Recently started listening to the SF Signal Podcast. Features roundtable discussions followed by interviews.

The two episodes I've listened to so far (Episode 5 and 8) have had some great discussions. Episode 5 caught my interest because of the topic: the SF equivalent of s&s. Primarily because I think I'm writing a type of SF s&s. (Sadly for me, the discussion agreed on another sub-genre of SF as the s&s equivalent. Oh well.)

And it turns out the host of the SF Signal podcast, Patrick Hester, is also the co-host of another podcast, The Functional Nerds.

I'm gonna be checking that one out, too. Looks like a fun listen.

Progress Notes In Exile Taking a Break

Yes.

In an effort to recharge the Creative Batteries, I declared that September be a KAT AND MOUSE-free Month.

Which just means that I'm taking a break from writing the serial.

Other creative stuff is fair game. Just nothing on the Duo.

And to show just how well that's working, I've already not sketched out two upcoming episodes.

LadyAce is also helping. She has decided that I've spent way too much time with my ass in front of the computer and has seen fit to find out which of my groups of friends currently have established gaming sessions and kicked my ass out of the house to go play.

And that's where I'm headed this weekend.

On the plus side, it looks like I'll be playing a dwarven cleric pirate.

Sweeet.
