Caught this io9 post on Heinlein's Rules of Writing. Once again, a thumbs-down on Rule #3.
I talked about this a while back and I believe it's still the case.
Heinlein's referring to the trap of over-rewriting, not the actual process of revision. In other words, write the story, edit/polish/revise/rewrite, then FFS stop repeatedly fondling the damn thing and get it out to market.

There is always room for tweaking, but tweaking doesn't necessarily improve. If you can't get your hands out of a story, it can never leave the house, which is a pretty necessary step if you're writing with the intent of publication.
